CLUB HISTORY - WATER POLO

Praetorian water polo club was established in 2012 in Fresno CA. The main intention of the club at its founding was to send masters teams to competitions around the state of California. The founding members were alumni from Fresno Pacific Men's water polo program that wanted a club they could continue to play together with and compete under. Many members of the men's masters team put down roots in the area and are very involved in teaching and coaching   In the valley.

The masters team has been regularly competing around California since 2012 and has proven to be one of the dominant clubs in the Central Valley. Praetorian has earned their way into the championship game in all of their seven appearances at the Central Valley Masters Tournament, winning the tournament four times respectively.

Praetorian has only recently expanded into age group development and intends to grow the sport and access for development and competition at the highest levels by bringing athletes from all around the valley together.  The coaching staff has over a decade of collegiate playing experience as well as coaching. Nearly all members of the coaching staff continue play and compete to maintain a first hand perspective of how the game is changing and evolving each year.

ABOUT OUR SWIM LESSON FAMILY

Kara and Micha Pavlovic both have a love for aquatics.  They met while playing water polo at Merced College in 2006. Years later they began coaching together at Clovis North High School and the rest is history. In 2017 Kara and Micha decided to expand Micha’s Masters water polo team, Praetorian, into an age group club team.  A year later they decided once more to expand and create their swim lessons portion of Praetorian.

Kara has been teaching swim lessons for the past 12 years and has always had a passion for it.  She began working as a city employee, a pool manager and eventually an Aquatics Coordinator. Kara understands the importance of learning how to swim and believes in teaching children and adults the steps to becoming a strong swimmer as well as rescue swimming.

All of the swim lesson instructors at Praetorian are hard working, caring and dedicated teachers.  We have a great group this year and they can’t wait to start teaching this summer!
